The Cumbus was invented in the early Twentieth century by Zeynel Abidin Bey, a Greek expatriate who settled in Istanbul. Ataturk Mustafa Kemal, the founder of modern day Turkey and its first president, gave the Cumbus its name. Zeynel set up shop manufacturing the Cumbus and it soon became popular, particularly in rural areas where it is played in weddings and special celebrations. Your Saz Cumbus was handcrafted in Zeynel Abidin Bey's family shop, by the inventor's grandson and great grandsons. It does not come from any other manufacturer.
